About Me
Hi, I’m Sharon Rush! I’m currently finishing up my Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, and my capstone project focuses on protecting smart home IoT devices from security vulnerabilities. Technology is so fascinating in the way it connects us. I am even more motivated to make sure IoT devices stays safe and secure for every day people.
Beyond academics, I wear many hats. I mentor others, enjoy fitness challenges, and love traveling when I can. Most importantly, I’m a proud mom to my amazing son. My son inspires me daily to keep growing and reaching for new goals.
Why smart home cybersecurity?
My passion for cybersecurity stems from my professional experience supervising IT professionals and managing critical communications and network systems. In these roles, I learned how much impact even a small breach could have on an entire organization, which motivated me to delve deeper into cybersecurity. I also enjoy sharing what I’ve learned with others, whether that’s mentoring soldiers I’ve worked with or helping Friends and family learn how to protect their digital lives.
